Welcome To Colour Above Cattery Home of Exotic Shorthairs, Persians, and Himalayans.

Central Time -

If you're looking for the perfect Exotic Shorthair Kitten to add to your family. You've come to the right place.  Colour Above Offers Pet and Show Quality Kittens to approved pet homes.  Occasionally we consider placing a show quality kitten in another show cattery.  We don't condone backyard breeders, nor kitten mills, nor do we sell our kittens to them.

Colour Above is a DNA Tested PKD Negative Cattery.  We've also had our cattery Vet (Gateway Animal Hospital, Amanda Fant, DMV she has one of our cats also :) test for every cat disease, flea born disease, tick, fungus and protozoa known to man and are 100% Negative and Clear!

We are not a Pet Store.  Please remember a good cattery is a closed cattery this is to keep cats and kittens healthy by vets recommendations.  We do not allow anyone in our cattery/home to view and play with kittens, nor do we meet people so they can see kittens from our vehicle.  No Exceptions, Please Don't Ask as Our Felines Health is our Main Goal and we're sure you understand this.  For more info on why healthy catteries are closed catteries feel free to contact our vet, she'll be happy to explain.

Our Dedication and Love To Our Felines by Having a High Quality Cat Breeding Program in Our Home

The time and dedication involved in our cat breeding program isn't a hobby, it's a 24/7 and then some, love for our cats and their kittens.

Kittens are born in our kittening room, where I stay with the Queen starting at 3 days prior to her due date. This usually means nights with only a few hours sleep or none at all, to make sure queens, and kittens have the help they require to be born and nurse from minute one!  Our Breed is not a Hearty breed due to the flat face, not all kittens will make it at birth or beyond.  Normal litter size is 1-3 live births.  Read Why So Few Show Quality Extreme Nose Exotic Shorthairs Exist.

I bath the queen immediately after birthing so the kittens have a sanitary environment from the start.  Each kitten is weighed at birth and 2 times a day there after until they are ready to go into their forever homes at 12 plus weeks, aka 2lbs and above, which is the vet and most other show catteries recommendation for our breed.  Read More On Exotic, Persian, Himalayan Kittens Growth and Development.

I cook up and feed new moms aka queens whole chickens shredded through our food processor, along with a multi vitamin supplement Nutrical, and of course our choice of cat food Blue Buffalo Wilderness, and ProPlan Indoor these stimulate better milk production as well as gives kittens more nourishment.

Not Before 6 weeks we start weaning kittens, and this breed is stubborn and will stop eating altogether, one must be very careful or they can lose a kitten during this time, they can be stubborn.  We keep the queens with the kittens during the first week of weaning, after that we remove her for several hours daily until around 10 weeks, they will remain with their mothers, as she teaches them how to use the litter box, groom themselves, and be social kitties :) I feed the same cooked chicken, along with Rice Baby Cereal, Kitten Milk Replacer, and a multivitamin from my vet during the weaning process.  I also tell new kitten owners to have chicken baby food on hand in case their new kitten becomes depressed from missing our home and its family.

The investment into having and producing the best show kittens is a costly adventure, vet visits for kitten shots starting at 4 weeks is $49 per kitten, and kittens now receive 3 sets of Heska Intranasal Vaccines prior to ever being allowed to leave our home.  Even though we are tested parasite free, we have vet fecals done every 2 weeks, as well as testing for Protozoa, and all kittens mandatorily get Advantage Plus Flea Medication at 12 weeks prior to shipping.  Don't assume you don't have fleas in your area, you do, and you can track them in on your body and a kitten can become anemic and die from them quickly if you don't keep them treated for fleas as your vet will recommend!

There is no profit in properly raising and showing cats. It's past a 24/7 day job on top of our regular jobs. But each person in our family loves what we do, and we have a Full Time Kitten Nanny (why not, I had one for my kids too) during the day when we are at work, and I have monitors in my home so I can view how everything is going when I am not around.

All Pet Quality Kittens are sold without CFA papers until we have proof they are altered. If this is not done by 6 months of age no papers will be given! That's to protect our lines and the Persian/Exotic Breed Standard! No Exceptions!

Where is Colour Above Cattery Located?

Colour Above Cattery Exotic Shorthairs, Persians, and Himalayans are from some of the top show catteries in the US and Russia.  We Specializes in International and US Champion Pedigreed Exotic Shorthair Kittens For Sale, Persian Kittens For Sale, and Himalayan Kittens For Sale in Unique Colors to Approved Homes.

If you're wondering why we have 3 cat breeds, then allow me to quickly educate you on our main Show cats, the Exotic Shorthair Cat Breed.

Exotic Shorthairs Derived from the Persian, American Shorthair, British Shorthair, and several other cat breeds.

The Himalayan is a color variety class, as are Bicolors, Tortie's, Shaded etc of the Persian Cat Breed, thus when producing an Exotic Shorthair Litter most if not all Exotic Shorthair Breeders will always have the Longhair Variety too.  Why?  The the Longhair and longer nose aka doll face are the dominant genes.

The Longhair Exotics are really just Persian or Himalayans and are born in nearly all Exotic Shorthair Litters worldwide and most Exotic Shorthair Breeders cross (breed back into) Persians to keep the exquisite coat and type that derived from some of the best Show Persian Catteries.

All Colour Above Kittens including our Exotic Shorthair Kittens for Sale are Vet Certified, Socialized with Daily Household Activities that Incorporate Well Adjusted, Playful, Loving Personalities.

Kittens offered for sale at Colour Above Cattery are a very special part of our family, we do not ever rush to place kittens into new homes as over the years we have learned kittens of any breed need adequate time with their mothers and other cats to learn how to use the litter box and groom themselves properly.

Each kitten offered for sale from our home to yours is also well trained to use a scratching post as we do not believe in declawing cats.

All of our males and females are non-sprayers.  Spraying is a genetic trait and we do not carry such a nasty messy bad habit in our lines.

All of our male and female cats live together in our home in harmony and we firmly believe that every kitten/cat should have a companion of it's own species, just like most animals require for a healthy long life.

If you're interested in more than one of our kittens for sale, let us know as we're always glad to work out an affordable kittens price to accommodate 2 or more of our kittens going to live in a loving multi-cat environment.

Where to Find Exotic Shorthair Cats - In the Laundry Basket

Mouse Over For Larger View

One of the many things we love about our Cats is their ability to find themselves the most comfortable place in the house.

Victoria our Seal Point Exotic Shorthair Female loves the clean laundry basket.

If we don't get the fresh warm laundry folded within minutes of it leaving the dryer she is in the basket fast asleep. We're pretty sure around our house there is no such place as cat free.  lol

The best part is their weekly bathes and grooming sessions, (sometimes more than one cat thinks it needs to be bathed at the same time as another cat) and it's a tub full of kitties.

Kittens particularly enjoy bath and grooming time and we find it fun to bathe them all at one time in the tub with the hose sprayer nozzle I designed just for this purpose. (didn't find anything online or the hardware stores)

We're considering putting video and audio surveillance throughout the house to see what the kitties are doing when we're not in the rooms, we're sure everyone would enjoy watching these videos.
